Mary Cassatt is particularly known for her insightful pictures of women, often with their children.  She studied at the Pennsylvannia Academy of Arts before moving to Paris in 1866.  She then returned to the US for a while before travelling around Europe.  She was greatly influenced by Degas and Renoir, and Degas became a close friend.  Her work appears in many US Museums and in the Museum d'Orsay in Paris.
